The heart beats on

Tiny restless souls
They flitter from one tree
To another, in search of nectar
Their sweet tweets echo.

Their black glistening bodies
Dance in red flowers
Of Palash, Krishnachura,
Sometimes in yellow Radhachura.

Then they fill up the heart
With absolute joy
When they grace the grills
Of my humble balcony.

Nervous little beings,
Never stay for long
But that momentary perch
Lights up the remaining day.
