The tower (part)

It was a dilapidated old watch tower, situated outside the old manor where a wicked king lived centuries ago. Her father used to tell them that people dug up skeletons from the surrounding areas even when he was young the victims of the king who was dead centuries ago.

“That manor is haunted.” her father used to scare them with dozens of ghost stories, ghosts he or persons he knows have witnessed.
“One night, I was returning from college, the bus dropped us past midnight. I had to walk past the manor.”

“I swear I could hear someone following me. I could hear the sound of the small bells of her anklets and her bangles all through the way. But every time I looked back I saw a black bitch following me at a distance.”

“Then….?” The kids used to ask in chorus.

“I fell sick that night.” the story teller used to continue quite grimly.

“Doctors could not analyze the cause of my fever, high fever. Grandma used to stay in my room all night.”

“That night she suddenly woke up feeling strange, as if something was really wrong. When she looked at my bed she swore she saw a woman sitting beside me. In the semi darkness she could see that it was a very beautiful woman wearing the dresses of British Era notch girls: glittering lehenga (Indian long skirt), choli (top that comes with it), chunni (stole) and ornaments of pure gold studded with real gems! They were sparkling in the moonlight that was scattered on the bed. Her hair was long and not braided. It fell all over her body like another veil, black one.”

“Who is it?” she mumbled incoherently.

“She just vanished right in front of my eyes! But not before I could see her eyes. They were glowing like the eyes of predators in dark.”

“A shudder ran down my spine. It took me few seconds to gather courage and scream!”…your grandma told me later.” Her father would have continued the story, surrounded by a bunch of gaping kids, swallowing every word that came out of his mouth.

“She said she felt like fainting but gathered her nerves and started screaming.”
“Grandpa came running from the next room. He on his turn swears that he saw a black bitch skulking out of the room. He chased it but could not find it after reaching the garden. The main door to the house was wide open, and he remembered locking it himself before retiring to bed, no one took the blame for leaving it wide open!”

“When husband and wife discussed their experiences with the rest of the family members the stories naturally spread, soon the whole village was talking about it and sharing own experiences with that cursed tower.”

“Then a suggestion came because by that time the family members were terrified.”

“No matter how hard they tried, how many people they placed around me in my bed, everyone fell asleep at the same time, in a deep senseless slumber.

When they woke up everything was just the way it was only the patient was slowly slipping to death.”

“I have turned into a skeleton only a thin layer of flesh was left wrapped around the skeleton. God only knew where all the nutritious food was vanishing.”

“At that time there was a famous sage in our town, who was capable of getting rid of evil spirits… Baba Yogeswaranand. He was famous for saving people from evil spirits.”

“He was called in.”

——–Rest in book——-

I know many of you are already thinking that most of my posts in my blogs are my old works, years old quite often. Where are my new works? Have I stopped writing new ones?

Well I am still writing and painting as enthusiastically as before. But these days they are channeled into four other platforms- my annual republished kindle books (https://amazon.com/author/sharmishthabasu) -they devour quite a huge no. of stories and poems every year. Quite a lot!

my bookstore in shoptly (https://shoptly.com/sharmishthabasu) Another section goes to my shoptly bookstore, here I not only publish my monthly Ezines Agnijaat and Agnishatdal I also publish a set of books of poetry and story. They are quite merrily illustrated and are available as pdf files. Yes you can read them perfectly in your cellular phone and of course in computer.

My twin Ezines Agnijaat and Agnishatdal (both English, monthlies) don’t feature much stories or poems but publish all my new essays and articles and again, truckload of illustrations.

and my patreon profile (https://patreon.com/sharmishthabasu) This one again contains bunch of stories, poems and they almost always are illustrated. If not then the stories are very long and of the type that can’t be illustrated.

I have been so stuck up with my creations that I have ignored my blogs and other social media profiles since 2015 I believe. So, if you enjoyed my works quite amply then I think it is high time that I bring you up to date, to share what I am creating these days and how can you get them!

It will be a lengthy affair, so have patience. I will be updating you about my four years of hyperactive creativity!

I have started with Patreon’s works since April 2019. It is sort of my launch-pad to make my creativity actually become my career. So since creating my profile there I have been updating 5 works each month, two are the Ezines, the remaining three are writing and paintings. Works my blogger friends thoroughly enjoyed. Stories and poems with ample amount of illustrations!

Anyone who becomes my patron there can chose from few tiers-

You can check them from my profile- https://patreon.com/sharmishthabasu

The next set of works will be from my store in shoptly.com. I have created this store because it gives me lot more freedom than other platforms do. I can pick up the formatting and decide how many pictures I will add and in what size. Nothing meddles with them. So I sort of love this platform. You will see dozens of books here, you can directly buy them from shoptly or buy them from me via paypal- https://paypal.me/sharmishthabasu [don’t forget to drop me a line @ sermistabasu@gmail.com after paying in paypal so I can send you the pdf file {all these books cost $1.00
